The Pea Oracle
You come across an ornately decorated and luxurious looking bed that’s piled to the ceiling with pillows, mattresses, and cushions galore. You can’t explain it, but somehow you know you must take a closer look at this bed. Something there is important to you right here, right now.
Leaning in, you study the various levels of padding, going up up and up. Just as you’re wondering what the purpose could possibly be for this tower of textiles and if the bed’s occupant is supposed to climb up to the top somehow, something catches your sharply attuned eye under the bottom of the stack. It’s the spirit of an ancient pea, poking its face out to see if you’ll notice it beneath .
You have found the Pea Oracle, and it has a story to share with you today.
The Pea Oracle says:
People have tried to test your sensitivity over the years. They needed to challenge it, to poke at it, to try to disprove it. They didn’t believe it was real - didn’t believe it could be real - this way that you see, sense, and feel things so deeply that no one else can.
Then, something led them to see that you’re not only the real deal, but that your ability to sense things makes you very powerful. They may have witnessed you knowing something way early that turned out to be correct. Or they saw the consistency in how you continued to notice things that they thought were very well hidden under a coating of secrets and illusion.
One thing became obvious to these people: You were being genuine. And they were not. That’s when they switched tactics.
That’s when they told you that your sensitivity was too much, that it was all in your head, that it makes you weak. They did everything they could to convince you that your sensitive nature is something to deny, dismiss, change, and “fix” about yourself.
Because if you would believe all of that, they could get you to use your sensitivity in ways that would benefit them instead of you.
The joke’s on them because in the end, you sensed that, too. It may have taken a minute - even a long minute - but you felt the grit under their intentions. You did that thing you do, where you attune yourself to yourself. Where you tap into the hum of your own energy and to the beat of the world around you. Where you zero into the truth. And what you felt there was right, once again.
So you’ve learned to trust that a pea is a pea, when you sense it. It doesn’t matter if anyone else tries to tell you it’s not there. It doesn’t matter if it’s buried under 800 of the plushest mattresses on Earth. It doesn’t matter if no one else can see it. You don’t need to see it - you can feel it. That’s enough for you to know it’s there.
Turns out, your ability to do that signals something very old to other people. Even your testers, naysayers, critics, provocateurs know this deep down about you: You have one of the rarest gifts in the world.
People who know things they shouldn’t know? People who feel things they shouldn’t be able to feel? Those people - the ones like you - are a force to be reckoned with. When they trust the information they receive from their deep inner feeling and act on it.
Your sensitivity was never a weakness. It was always your strength. And it’s yours to command, to do with as you wish.
