found oracle (n): Any object, person, or experience that speaks to you with deeper truth and meaning is an oracle. These oracles of the everyday world tell stories that hold up a mirror to our shared human experiences. They invite you to imagine, reflect, and connect more deeply to yourself - and, therefore, the world around you.

Meet Bailey Lewis

Head shot of Bailey Lewis

The storytelling artist behind Found Oracles.

Hello hello - I’m Bailey!

I'm an award-winning, multimedia storyteller (MFA Creative Writing with distinction, University of South Carolina). I combine words, images, and physical materials to create intuitive and collective story experiences.

My work explores the collective and individual stories we live by - the plot lines that are as old as myth itself yet as modern as you and me. The stories we tell ourselves shape our reality, so I believe we need more stories that help us to see and celebrate, give us words for our experiences, and remind us of our connection to ourselves, the world, and all that is.

I’m interested in what happens when the mythic collides with modern life. I'm always drawn to that magic seam that runs just beneath our common human experience.

Over my 20+ years as a storyteller, my work has been published in many literary magazines, named a winner of multiple national storytelling contests, honored as a recipient of several grants and fellowships, shown at exhibitions across the country, listed in Wigleaf's Best of the Web, and nominated for the Pushcart Prize.

Found Oracles is one of my public storytelling art projects out of my story studio. While you're here, make sure to pick a card and read its story for you today, and subscribe to my daily story emails for stories about being human from unexpected objects and messengers in the everyday world.
