The Jazz Hands Oracle
You find yourself in backstage area of a concert hall, walking down an empty corridor of dressing rooms with names on them ready for the next performance. You read the names as you go past, each emblazoned with a star, each waiting for the person attached to them to arrive and get ready for the stage. At the end of the line of doors, you come upon one with.. well, it’s strange because it’s your name there on the star on the door. You hesitate, maybe there’s someone else with your name here today? But somehow you know you need to enter the dressing room. Something there is important to you, right here, right now.
The light is on as you push open the door and you sit at the dressing table in front of a mirror surrounded by lights. Somewhere, it sounds like a sound rehearsal is happening. Music echoing through the tiles in the room’s ceiling. You gaze at yourself in the mirror just a moment - taking in how your eyes are lit and your face is glowing in the lights, when two skeleton hands appear in front of you, sharing your reflection. You understand at once - they’re ancient, musical, and very…jazzed that you’re here.
You have found The Jazz Hands oracle, and it has a story to share with you today.
The Jazz Hands Oracle says:
You are a show stopper. The enthusiasm with which you go about regular tasks and everyday motions has people stopping in their tracks. They wonder where you get the energy, how you generate so much passion and vitality in every step and movement. How you make normal events feel like a grand production. How you make every moment feel special, even if you’re just outside on the street, taking the trash to the curb. They don’t know it’s something that’s self-replenishing inside of you, and it’s because of the way you approach everything in life like it’s worthy of its own musical number.
Around you, dogs and cats and hamsters get full-blown birthday parties complete with a photo booth and full-size pet-friendly cake. Short car rides are stocked with every snack, accessory, and playlist anyone could possible want in the span of 8 hours, let alone 15 minutes. At any minute, your world can break into a full song-and-dance number: the kind where all of the extras around you know the choreography already and join along.
That’s probably actually happened to you before: You said something and someone finished your sentence with you. You were recording a dance trend video for the internet and strangers came over to be in the dance line chorus. You started French braiding your friend’s hair at a concert and everyone around you formed a circle to braid each others’ hair. You set up a picnic in a train station and people flocked to you with their own foods and beverages. You started singing alone in a ride share and by the end of the ride, you and your driver were singing together like it was your very own own duet scene. Something where you started something larger than life, and the whole world stopped to join you.
Because with you, grocery store trips aren’t just grocery trips. They’re journeys to town to pick out only the finest ingredients for the royal supper. Mental health walks become journeys with giants and shapeshifters and magic benevolent beings on the same level as a matinee of Into the Woods. Gas station runs turn into a ritual of snacks and refueling after traveling down long and dusty road, finalized with you leaning against your vehicle like a gender-nonspecific Danny Zuko. You glamorize and energize your life, which glamorizes and energizes the lives of those around you.
With you, anything can suddenly become a full-on whimsical extravaganza. And the people love it. They can roll their eyes, act too cool, refuse to lean all the way into the full display all they want. You bring an energy and boldness and downright dance-worthy element to their day that they won’t find anywhere else. They have the best time, the best memories, and the best stories - all from you just being you.
Not everyone can match your level of dramatic flair. In fact, few can. It’s not in their nature. But you’d better believe that every time you do that thing where you start turning a random Tuesday afternoon into the most thrilling and spectacular theatrical piece of the year, they cannot take their eyes off you. The energy vibrates around you. Your kicks are higher, your smile is brighter, your hands are jazzier.
You are the razzle AND the dazzle. When someone finds themselves in a scene you’re actively creating, they really only have two choices: They can play aloof while they stop and stare, or they can join in for the chorus.
