Hi, I’m Bailey!

Welcome to Found Oracles. I am the author and narrative artist behind this project out of my story studio, Bailey Sends Word.

I’m an award-winning author and interactive storyteller, and you’ve found the space where I’m building an ever-expanding universe of choose-your-own-adventure style stories.

All of my stories have to do with what happens when the mystical suddenly arrives in your everyday life. To me, the magic seam that runs just beneath the seemingly mundane world is ready to split open any second and reveal something truly otherworldly and sublime, right in your own kitchen or backyard or - once or twice, even - your bathroom.

My stories present you with mystical encounters out of seemingly nowhere and ask you to consider for yourself: What happens when the otherworldly, the spectacular, the fantastical unexpectedly collides with our seemingly familiar world?

The cosmic characters who narrate the stories show us that there are new wonders to explore within ourselves and the world around us, if we keep ourselves open to cracking apart that magic seam - and let it crack us open too - whenever we unexpectedly encounter it.

I am, and always have been, a literary fabulist. In my most recent projects, including here with Found Oracles and in my public art storytelling installation, The Gumball Machine of Great Fortune, I have been creating constellations of object-based stories. Each surrealist, fabulist visual or object serves as your story selector, inviting you to participate in a choose-your-own-adventure style storytelling experience. The object you select has the story that has been waiting to find you in that exact time and space - you may find that it’s part of your story, too.
